In the 1984 breakup, AT&T break up into eight pieces as “Ma Bell” gave beginning to seven “Baby Bells.” The Baby Bells had been seven firms made up of AT&T’s 22 working companies: Nynex, Bell Atlantic, Ameritech, BellSouth, US West, Pacific Telesis and Southwestern Bell. Within the deal, AT&T stored its name, its long distance business, its manufacturing arm and Bell Labs. The silicon wafer is coated with a fabric known as a photoresist that undergoes a chemical process when exposed to ultraviolet light. Ultraviolet mild shown through the mask onto the photoresist creates an equivalent pattern on the wafer as similar to that mask. Then solvents etch into the parts of the resist that had been exposed to the light, leaving the other components intact. Then another layer of a silicon material doped with some impurities so that it’s laid down on prime of the wafer, and another sample is etched in by the same technique.
