Best Self-Emptying Vacuum Self-Empting Robot Vacuums and Mops

The Eufy 11S is one the most affordable self-emptying robot vacuums that are available. It was able to efficiently remove dry oats from hard floors and low-pile carpeting in our tests. Its dustbin is easy to empty and open — easier than those of other models in its price range.

It recharges at its base and resumes cleaning when it’s fully charged. Its obstacle-avoidance tech gets tangled in socks and cords, and it is unable to reach the thresholds of low.

1. iRobot Roomba 11S

The 11S is one of the cheapest self-emptying robots and a lot of people seem to love it. It is good at moving under furniture and is a good option for people with hard floors or daily cleaning. The suction is weaker than our top picks, however it’s still effective. It has a big dust bin and a durable battery. The app allows you to schedule your daily cleaning routine, or select a specific room. You can also create a map of your home to help the device stay clear of areas you don’t want it to visit.

The app is easy to use and has a simple layout. It doesn’t have any advanced capabilities, but it’s simple enough to use and allows you to track the status of your robot. It also includes a helpful tutorial to provide you with the basics.

Its cleaning patterns don’t always look like logical – at times it follows straight lines, and other times it focuses on the edges of the room – but Bounce Navigation ensures your entire floor is cleaned. It’s not the most effective at climbing over obstacles. It was unable to get under our pet food bowls as well as piano pedals, and got caught in our 2.25 inch shag carpet a few times.

We believe there are better robot vacuums than the 11S. The iRobot Roomba is much easier to maintain and maintain, with lower recurring costs and charges more quickly. It has a bigger bin, performs better on any surface type and can climb over obstacles that are low in elevation (like electrical cables) more easily.

The eufy RoboVac 11S is another good alternative for regular vacuuming. It is designed very similarly to our top pick and it excels in removing fine dirt and larger debris on hard flooring. It does a good job on carpets with medium or low pile. It has a large dirt storage container and uses BoostIQ for automatic suction power adjustment. It has an easy-to-use remote control, and it is possible to set up daily cleanings with the app. The battery lasts about an hour, and the dustbin is easy to empty by taking it from its dock.

2. Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra

The Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra is a fantastic robot vacuum and mop, with a surprisingly wide array of automation options. The Roborock S7 MaxV is available in three versions of the basic S7 model and the S7 Plus model and the S7 Ultra. The S7 MaxV Ultra is the only one with an Empty Wash Fillet Dock (or an alternate Auto-Empty Dock). These docks allow the robot to return to its base, empty the collected debris in a dust bag, or reservoir, drain the dirty water tank and wash its mopping pads.

Sensors on the S7 work in tandem to clean and avoid obstacles. It can recognize flooring types, save the map of rooms and zones and even detect levels of dirt. It’s also capable of scheduling and running spot cleaning sessions. It was able to perform well in standard tests, however it couldn’t match the iRobot Roomba j7+ during the carpet deep cleaning test.

With the companion app you can program the S7 to run a cleaning cycle in accordance with your schedule. You can choose an option for cleaning, such as eco or automatic, and the day, week or even a time. You can also choose whether the robot will stop if it runs out of power or comes across an obstacle.

If you don’t have an Android device however, you can still utilize the S7 by connecting a remote control to its charging dock. The controls on the remote can be a bit difficult to understand initially, but once you’ve got the hang of them, they work great. The power button functions as the general ‘Clean’ function and the “Spot Clean” button instructs the robot vacuum self emptying to clean the area around it. The “Spot Clean” button also activates the child lock.

Roborock’s mobile app has been enhanced to include a live view function that lets you see what the S7 does at home. You can enable it by pressing a particular sequence of buttons on your S7 and then creating an unlock pattern in the mobile app that you can use at any time you want to know what the S7 is doing.

3. Shark IQ XL

Shark isn’t as well-known for robot vacuum cleaner self emptying vacuums as iRobot and Roborock However, our hands-on testing of this model has proven it to be among the most efficient self-emptying robot vacuums currently on the market. It’s simple to set up, comes with an enormous bin that is easy to empty (albeit a bit loudly) into a trash can when it’s full, and can easily be programmed to complete a home clean on a schedule or when required.

The IQ XL can connect to your home WiFi that allows you to monitor it through the Shark app and view its battery levels as it cleans. The app lets you create a cleaning schedule and also receive push notifications on its status as well as pause cleaning and then restart cleaning, or set it to clean one specific area. It can also be controlled by voice commands using Amazon Alexa or best self-emptying vacuum Google Assistant. The app will inform you which power mode it is currently in–Eco, Normal or Max–but we didn’t find that any of the modes made a huge difference in cleaning performance.

The IQ XL will automatically empty the bin at the end of each cleaning cycle into the base, which will then self-empty. The bin can hold up to 60 days of debris so it won’t be required to empty it more than once unless your pets have hair that is long. If you do have to empty it, all you have to do is untie the side bin, put it up to a trash can, and press a button to eject its contents.

The Shark IQ XL is a good vacuum cleaner. It does a decent job of cleaning floors with no dust and it can maneuver itself well. However the Shark IQ XL feels a little less solidly built than the Roomba 694. It’s good at cleaning carpeted floors, but doesn’t match the iRobot Roomba i7 when it comes to the performance of bare floors. The i7 also feels more robust, more durable and requires less maintenance. It also has lower recurring costs and charges faster and has similar battery performance. It also comes with more advanced automation features, such as no-go areas and the ability choose specific rooms to be cleaned.

4. iRobot J7+

This robot vac/mop combination is a rarity because it can do both tasks exceptionally well. iRobot Combo j7+ has all the features and smarts of its j7 equivalent, including LiDAR maps and self-emptying. But it also offers additional features for mopping and vacuuming.

The j7+ makes use of the new acoustic sensor to detect the type of floor and allows it to vacuum or mop the room on its first pass. It also makes use of this information to prioritize cleaning rooms that have carpet or rug flooring over rooms with hard floors.

The j7+ is quieter than most robotic vacuums when it’s running, and even quieter when it’s mopping. The maximum reading of 64 decibels on our decibel meter is similar to office chatter.

It’s simple to establish a schedule for cleaning and change the way that the j7+ operates when its dust container is full. The j7+ can be controlled by voice assistants such as Alexa, Google Assistant and other. The app allows you to create and view maps in your home.

In our tests, we found that the j7+ performed admirably on carpeted and hard floors, and it cleaned up most of the dirt we threw at it. It has a difficult time dealing with pet hair, large particles and sand. But it can clean them with more effort. It has good navigational abilities and two cliff sensors that keep it from falling down the stairs or getting caught on furniture legs.

We did find some minor issues with the j7+. These include that it can get caught on cords and rugs, and that it doesn’t always turn off its mopping when it’s done vacuuming. Otherwise, this is an excellent model that ticks all the right boxes.

iRobot J7+ is one of the most efficient auto-emptying systems we’ve tried. It puts its 14oz 0.4-liter dust container into the base station where it automatically emptys itself for you. This reduces the amount of trash you’ll need to dispose of and you’ll only have to change the reusable dust disposal bag from the dock around every 60 days or so, depending on how often you use the j7+.
