The Port of Los Angeles is the largest container port in the United States, representing over 15% of inbound container site visitors and almost 10% of exports. The Port of Long Seaside is the second largest port in the country, with 13% of container imports and over 7% of exports. A part of the reason there are more imports than exports on the Southern California ports is that a number of million Storage containers for rent of New York are shipped empty again to Asia out of L.A. and Long Beach every year. The containers that aren’t shipped back empty are stored at intermodal depots close to the Lengthy Seashore space.
