CES 2020 has come and go, with tons of tech firms beating their chests and demonstrating to the public just how superior their product might be. There were self-balancing Segways, “artificial humans”, and even a Rest room Paper Robot. Some were nice however some were definitely on the, err… weirder side of things.

Then there’s the robotics facet of the commerce show. The world has seen many iterations of robotic companions, from something as innocent as a pet dual arm robot to one thing more lifelike (and creepier) humanoid robot. They all have one thing to supply for us, however none, I might say, is quite as totally lifelike than the one in this article.

Meet MarsCat, the world’s first fully autonomous robotic cat that literally does regardless of the hell it desires the minute it’s turned on. You don’t give it commands, you don’t give it instructions, and you don’t inform it what to do. It tells itself what to do, you understand, kinda like how an actual cat is. It’ll act like all common home cat, doing issues by itself volition.

The companion cat robotic is currently on Kickstarter, the place it has managed to raise over $100,000 from the original $20,000 purpose. That’s a lot of people wanting a robotic cat as an alternative of a real cat.

While it’s dubbed as a “cat”, the actual product does little to truly make it look as lifelike as attainable. As an alternative, it seems to be more like a furless version of Frankenstein’s cat slightly than an actual one. However, it is still in the early stages though, so I’m sure they’ll do extra to improve on the ultimate design (hopefully).

MarsCat however, nonetheless can respond to certain commands even though the company has claimed that it’s absolutely autonomous. Commands akin to “run” and “stop” will be heeded by the robotic cat as soon because it hears them, which to me, breaks the immersion a bit bit. The cat also responds to touch, so that you can provide it head scratches and it’ll reply accordingly. It even performs and interacts with objects and animals in its surroundings, resembling cat toys and even actual real cats!

Just take a look at those eyes staring again into your soul

If customers need to get access to the “cat” upon launch (March 2020), then they’d have to fork out at least $649 (RM2637.00) for it. A low amount it’s certainly not.

What do you guys think of the MarsCat? Is that this the future of family pets? Tell us in the comments below!
