Toronto is the largest city of Canada and highly populated too. This city is known as economic engine of Canada as many international companies, banks, business have their head offices and offices in this city. There is a huge chance of growth and success in this city so many people come here to work or set up their business. However, Toronto isn’t just economically stable or advanced. The infrastructure of the city of Toronto is also impressive and many projects are still undergoing or being planned to improve the already impressive infrastructure of the city. This city could be said to be fully developed. Here are some of the facts regarding the infrastructure of the city of Toronto.

Toronto has the largest transit system in North America after New York City. GO transit allow the people to move in and out of the city and internally too, along with that there two international airports which allow the people to travel all around the world, along with that, JetBlack Toronto gets water from the 8th largest fresh lake in this world, called lake Ontario. These were just the most prominent facts that are probably known by everyone. Toronto has 10,033 different street allowing people to drive in the city to everyplace, the total length of these roads is 5,365 km and these roads including , streets, ramps, laneways and expressways cover about 27.4% of the city area. The number of street intersection in this city is staggering 20,371 allowing the people to move to the branch road whenever they want too. Among these streets the longest is Lawrence avenue east of 25 km and the smallest is of 9.72 km called Sea Grassway Street. Nearly every street has a sidewalk so the total length of the sidewalk of the city is 7100 km, in addition to that, there are 530 bridges.

Toronto has 337 km of transit railway and it makes 2.3% of the area. 34.8 per cent of the city’s area is residential; 7.8 per cent industrial, 2.3 per cent commercial, 7.3 per cent institutional 18.1% of the area is covered by parking lots. The Toronto Transit Commission took over nine existing fare system and routes and as of today nearly 1.5 million trips are made daily on it. GO transit is a train system for greater transit area. The network that provides all the train and rails is VIA Rail. There are two airports, among which the busiest one is Pearson international airport. It is the 4th busiest airport in North America. Toronto has a underground pedestrian system PATH, that connects 50 restaurant1200 stores and restaurants, 50 office towers, five subway stations, Union Station, six major hotels and several entertainment centres under Toronto’s financial core.

Toronto has 18 water pumping stations, 10 water storage plants and 4 filtration plants, along with that the city has 44,000 hydrants. The total length of the drainage system is 10,002 km. Toronto has an effective police force with over 5,500 uniformed men, 1200 cars, over 90 motorbikes, 20 boats and 25 horses and the police patrol the city with these. Toronto has an excellent telecommunication system as well along with effective fire department system and a large number of hospitals providing emergency services all day to save the civilians. Thus Toronto is one of the most developed country.
