The decision to consider nominating the former presidential candidate as the gubernatorial candidate (calon gubernur) for Jakarta came after PDIP DPP Chairman Said Abdullah met with the Chairman of PKB, Muhaimin Iskandar alias Cak Imin, to discuss cooperation in the Jakarta Pilkada. “The names that are already there, we will see later. All names are being considered,” said PDIP DPP Chairwoman Puan Maharani at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday.
This was conveyed by Anies in response to the statement from PPP politician and Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) RI, Sandiaga Uno, regarding the proposal to promote sustainability in Jakarta .
Huda reminded that the Jakarta Pilkada is very fluid and nothing is fixed yet, including PKS, even though they are the winners of the Jakarta Legislative Election, but they cannot nominate on their own. “Nominating two figures at once as governor and deputy governor candidates, that’s in terms of political etiquette for a party that already has a golden ticket, has 20 percent. Now, we know our PKS friends did win in the last legislative election. But they haven’t exceeded 20 percent because they only have 18 seats while the 20 percent is 22 seats,” he said. “So in my opinion, this model of hoarding figures for a party that doesn’t meet and doesn’t have a golden ticket is dangerous, dangerous,” he concluded.
In addition to the Jakarta Pilkada, Puan revealed that she is also considering candidates for the East Java Pilkada. “We communicate all names and try to simulate all names because each region has its own differences and peculiarities. So all names need to be considered,” she stated.
Additionally, he mentioned that the party also considered various inputs from figures, clerics, religious leaders, cross-sect leaders, scholars, and the public in Jakarta. “The main aspects considered were candidates with good leadership experience in both the executive and legislative branches, a proven track record, credibility, capacity, and a high probability of winning,” he said. Furthermore, Syaikhu believes that the Anies-Sohibul Iman pair is a good match. According to Syaikhu, they complement each other for the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada. “Some have already coined the acronym AMAN (Anies-Sohibul Iman). Whatever the name, Anies-Sohibul Iman has the qualifications to complement each other and lead DKI Jakarta,” stated Syaikhu.
**Anticipate Offers for PKS** Adi also sees this as PKS’s effort to anticipate offers from the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM), which is serious about nominating Ridwan Kamil for Jakarta. “At the same time, PKS is a political party highly sought after by other contestants to be their vice-candidate. For example, there was an offer from the KIM camp for PKS to be Ridwan Kamil’s running mate. In this context, PKS is deliberately nominating their cadre to anticipate serious offers to be Ridwan Kamil’s running mate,” he said.
Anies hopes that the residents of Jakarta can be happy. Additionally, he mentioned making Jakarta a progressive city for its residents . “We want the residents of Jakarta to experience progress and to be happy,” said Anies .
As per Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, the Chairman of the Daily Board of the Gerindra Party, this proposal is viewed by his faction as merely an aspiration. “Yes, the current situation is merely a discussion in the media, and we consider it just an aspiration and it hasn’t reached the level of party discussions within the Advanced Indonesia Coalition,” said Dasco at Rumah Kertanegara, South Jakarta, on Friday, (June 7, 2024). Meanwhile, Kaesang stated that the decision regarding his nomination for the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada will be made in August. “As I stated before, wait for the surprise in August,” said Kaesang at the PSI Office in Jakarta, on Friday (June 7, 2024). He hinted that there is a surprise regarding whether he will run in the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada. The youngest son of President Jokowi requested everyone to be patient as the registration for the candidates for governor and deputy governor through political parties will begin from August 27 to August 29, 2024. “The registration is still far off, it’s still in August, late August. Wait,” he stated, according to Antara. Previously, on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, the Chairman of the Daily Board of the Gerindra Party, posted a photo of Budisatrio Djiwandono alongside Kaesang Pangarep on his personal Instagram account @sufmi_dasco, with the caption “For Jakarta 2024.” Besides pairing Budisatrio with Kaesang, Dasco also posted a photo of Budisatrio with public figure Raffi Ahmad in the style of a duo election poster on his personal Instagram. On Thursday, April 18, 2024, Ahmad Muzani, the Secretary-General of the Gerindra Party, stated that the candidate being prepared for the Jakarta Pilkada is still under consideration. The Gerindra Party possesses several young candidates, including Budisatrio Djiwandono and Moreno Soeprapto. “We possess a strong contender, especially a fresh and young figure,” he mentioned at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta. Alleged Prohibition by Jokowi, Kaesang Pangarep: That’s Mr. Zulhas’s Version of the Story Head of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), Kaesang Pangarep, also responded the statement that he was forbidden by President Jokowi from running in the Jakarta Pilkada. As per Kaesang, that story belongs to the Head of the National Mandate Party (PAN), Zulkifli Hasan, also known as Zulhas. “That’s Zulhas’s version of the story,” he mentioned. He then threw the question back to the media. “So, have you heard my side of the story yet?” questioned Kaesang. Upon hearing this, several journalists requested him to explain, but Kaesang opted to decline. “It’s a confidential,” said Kaesang before departing. Previously, Head of the National Mandate Party (PAN), Zulkifli Hasan, stated that President Jokowi forbade his youngest son, Kaesang Pangarep, from running for the Jakarta gubernatorial election. “Earlier, I inquired the President after the meeting. ‘Sir, what about Kaesang running for Jakarta deputy governor?’ ‘Oh no,’ he said, ‘Don’t do it, Mr. Zul,'” Zulhas said at the PAN DPP, South Jakarta, on Monday, (June 3, 2024). Zulhas previously suggested that Kaesang pair up with Zita Anjani in the Jakarta Pilkada because he wanted Jakarta to be led by young people. “Kaesang is young, I even suggested it before, ‘Sir, I suggested it a year ago, what if Jakarta is led by young people, Kaesang.’ That was about a year ago, if I’m not mistaken,” he said. Although the Supreme Court (MA) had changed the age limit for regional head candidates, providing Kaesang the chance to run for the Jakarta gubernatorial election, Jokowi still prohibited it. “‘Now it’s permissible, Sir.’ I mentioned earlier, yes, then who was the one who challenged it, right. Now it’s permissible, it was challenged. ‘Don’t do it, Mr. Zul,’ that’s about it,” he concluded. PSI Secretary-General Says No Internal Discussion Yet About Kaesang Running for 2024 Pilkada The Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), Kaesang Pangarep, is the potential to run as a gubernatorial candidate after the Supreme Court (MA) issued a regulation regarding the age of regional head candidates. However, there has been no confirmation from Kaesang on whether he will run for regional head. Kaesang has been speculated to participate in the Jakarta gubernatorial election after his poster appeared alongside Gerindra politician and Prabowo’s nephew, Budi Djiwandono. The Secretary-General of PSI, Raja Juli Antoni, stated that there has been no internal discussion concerning the youngest son of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) running in the 2024 Pilkada. “No (internal discussion yet),” stated Antoni at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, on Monday (June 3, 2024). Antoni stated that whether Kaesang will run this year depends on Kaesang himself. Furthermore, the coalition parties of the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM) need to deliberate whether it is advantageous for Kaesang to run in the Pilkada or not. “Ask Mas Kaesang,” he said. “It depends on Mas Kaesang and KIM what’s best,” added Antoni. **2024 Pilkada Schedule** Here is the schedule for the 2024 Pilkada stages: 1.
