The prostate is seen as a walnut sized gland in the male reproductive system that creates semen. It’s placed beneath the bladder and surrounds the upper portion of the urethra. The prostate is responsible not only for creating semen, but also managing the urinary flow from the bladder. Whenever the prostate gland gets enlarged to some extent to cause sexual dysfunction and urinary obstruction, it is described as Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). BPH is often that is taking place on men more than 50 years old and is a quite typical issue.

Causes of BPH

Alterations in hormone balance that come about when a male is in his 40’s seems to be the pre-dominant reason for Benign prostatic hyperplasia. With age range, testosterone levels decrease, while other hormone levels rise. The consequence in an increased amount of a testosterone offshoot – dihydrotestosterone that promotes cellular expansion in the prostate. This causes the enlargement of the gland and consequent tightening of the urethra inside the gland. Some other reasons of BPH include neoplasm, arteriosclerosis, inflammation, and metabolic or prostadin nutritional disturbances.

If the prostatic urethra thus gets compressed urinary flow is obstructed. The bladder may not get emptied as well as remaining pools of urine can cause infection or maybe formation of stones.
