The meeting was led by two ministers: Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Hadi Tjahjanto and Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian. The meeting was also attended by KPU RI Chairman Hasyim Asy’ari and all elements of Forkopimda from Kalimantan, Sulawesi, and Maluku.

“All parties must synergize well between the regional government and vertical agencies in the region, especially the TNI-Polri, to achieve safe and smooth elections,” said Bahtiar. Bahtiar also emphasized the importance of maintaining neutrality for all civil servants and encouraged public participation in monitoring the elections.

This decision is motivated by his commitment to offer a new alternative, presenting a unique vision and expertise to the Banten community, outside the long-standing political family in the region. Wismansyah’s tenure in Tangerang has been noted for advancement in city management and inclusive infrastructure development, creating a solid base to advance Banten. In this context, he is dedicated to championing social fairness, sustainable development, and equitable development throughout Banten. Arief shared his preparedness to face the challenges of the Pilkada in Banten with a vision centered on positive transformation and progress for all segments of society. He shared that his decision to run was initially unintended, but the encouragement from the community and his family made him reconsider. He mentioned that a meeting with Vice President Ma’ruf Amin significantly impacted his decision to run. “I was asked by VP Ma’ruf Amin, and we had a meeting. He asked, are you really running, Mr. Arief? If you want to run, you have to win; if you’re not sure you can win, don’t run, he said. I believed he was correct. Eventually, on Monday afternoon, I decided to run,” Arief said when spoken to in the Karawaci neighborhood of Tangerang City, June 23, 2024. Arief also shared his views on the ruling political family in Banten, noting the split in the community related to this dominance. Nevertheless, he is confident about competing with renowned contenders in the region. “I hope to work together with the Banten community to build together, including with the existing dynasties,” he added. Arief emphasized his willingness to collaborate with various parties for the progress of Banten, without sacrificing the interests of the people. “Whatever the outcome, I hope the next leadership can deliver the best for Banten,” he concluded. With this step, Arief Rachadiono Wismansyah calls upon the people of Banten to support a shared vision in developing the region through the upcoming election.

“Today we, along with Korem, the Regional Police, the Prosecutor’s Office, the KPU, Bawaslu, and the district governments, are building a shared commitment to ensure the success of the 2024 simultaneous regional elections,” concluded Bahtiar.

**Ma’ruf Amin Asks KPI to Reduce Hoax Spread Ahead of 2024 Pilkada** “KPI and KPID can provide education on the implementation and progress of the Pilkada through good, positive, and neutral broadcasts. This is important so that the public is protected from fake news (hoaxes),” stated Ma’ruf, as reported by Antara, on Tuesday. Ma’ruf also conveyed several points that need attention and follow-up from KPI and all broadcasting elements present at the event. He requested KPI to continue monitoring and supervising broadcasts by referring to the Broadcasting Code of Conduct (P3) and Broadcasting Program Standards (SPS).

One possibility is to back Anies Baswedan in the upcoming election in November. “Regarding our colleagues at PDIP, we are very open to working with PDIP and all parties, not just in DKI, but in different areas as well,” said Johan Daniel in Jakarta on June 8, 2024. On this occasion, PKB, along with the ex-governor of Jakarta, already shares the same goals and objectives for the Jakarta Pilkada. Therefore, it’s just a matter of time before the party led by Muhaimin Iskandar, publicly endorses Baswedan. “Anies Baswedan has already mentioned that with PKB, there’s no need for words; we’ve already worked together. So, the announcement is just a trivial technicality. The important thing is we are aligned in our vision. Now, we just wait for the surprise announcement,” said Daniel. “As for the deputy, that’s up to the Pilkada committee to finalize, working on everything to a team, including the deputy. We look forward to the Pilkada desk’s decision,” he concluded.

**Role as Supervisor** He hopes that KPI maintains and upholds the broadcasting media as a supervisor of government operations. “I ask that the future broadcasting law draft should be directed in line with the ideals of a democratic country that upholds the nation’s character and the noble values of Pancasila. The future existence of KPI must be stronger, so it can perform its functions optimally, representing the public interest, maintaining national morality, and strengthening the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI),” said Ma’ruf.
