Some Star best online casino real money punters have had their private details exposed in a massive data breach that saw millions of documents stolen from Australia’s largest legal firm by Russian hackers.

The Star Entertainment Group, which runs The Star casinos in NSW and Queensland, has told some of its customers their data was leaked in a cyber-attack on HWL Ebsworth Lawyers which took place in April last year.

Much of the private information, including bank details, passports and physical addresses, ended up on the dark web for three weeks before the legal firm secured an injunction to have it removed.

It is unclear why it took the casino almost 12 months to warn its customers.

Some of the information, including bank details, passports and physical addresses, ended up on the dark web for three weeks before the legal firm secured an injunction to have it removed.

A spokesperson for HWL Ebsworth Lawyers said analysing the stolen data was a  ‘detailed and complex challenge’.

One irate punter was told his passport, driving licence, tax file number and birth certificate were potentially exposed in the hack.

The casino advised the customer that HWL Ebsworth Lawyers would reimburse him for the cost of replacing his driver’s licence or passport.
