Volvo Key Fob Troubleshooting

Volvo drivers are enthralled by the remote control features of their key fob. By using a smartphone application, they can lock and unlock the vehicle and start the engine and even locate the vehicle.

Place the fob’s front up on a clean surface. Find the button that will release it. Put a coin between the cover of the fob and the fob, then slowly pull it up.

Locking the Doors

To press the manual lock/unlock switch, hold your key fob with the Volvo logo facing up. Find the black button on the edge of your key fob, and gently press it. This will open a cover that protects the key blade that is manual. You’ll require a flathead screwdriver and a coin to flip the cover counterclockwise, so the arrow is aligned with “open.”

Beginning the Engine

Modern Volvo key fobs provide the convenience and functionality that is unmatched by traditional manual keys. A key fob, as any other battery-operated device, will lose charge over time. If you’ve noticed that your key fob has become less responsive to pressing the lock or unlock buttons, that’s an indication that it’s in need of a new battery.

If your vehicle is fitted with a dealer-installed Engine Remote Start accessory, you can also utilize the key fob to activate this feature. The car will be heated or cooled at the same temperature it was set to while it was parked. It will last for up to 15 minutes.

Use a fingernail to remove the cover on the back of the key fob. A button should be located underneath the cover on a diagonal, Volvo Key Fobs near the body’s edge. Take it off by sliding it downwards, then to the right. The cover will then fall free and slide away leaving the manual key blade inside! If you still can’t locate the button, you can search the newly exposed manual key access to see whether there’s a secret slot or lever.

Closing the Windows

One of the lesser-known features that is not visible on Volvo key fobs is that you are able to open all windows immediately when you use the fobs. This is useful when trying to squeeze into a cramped parking space, or just when you need some fresh air inside the cabin while driving.

To unlock your Volvo, press and hold the unlock button on your Volvo remote for four seconds. This will lower all of the windows, as well as the sunroof in case your car has one. After that, once you’re done with your car you can lock everything by pressing the lock button again for four seconds.

You can also activate the panic alarm in your car with the key fob. This will sound an intense, enthralling roar that can scare off thieves and allow you to return home safely after a long night out. The opening of the Tailgate

If you have the Hands Free Liftgate with Logo Projection and Programmable Height (if equipped) You can open it with the key fob. You can open the liftgate by pressing the button, and then close it with the same button.

Use the key fob when you are ready to start the vehicle. (Don’t worry if your battery dies or if your car doesn’t start because it also has an electronic key slot). This is only one of many useful trick to use with your new Volvo.

The Alarm is turned off

Modern key fobs provide a lot of convenience over a standard mechanical car key. They’re not always perfect and batteries can be dead. If you’re in a hurry, or do not want to visit a shop to have your key fob reprogrammed you can try to achieve it at home.

Lay out your key fobs along with batteries and any other keys on a clean surface. Locate the small black button located at the left-hand corner of the key fob, then slide it to the right. The cover will fall off, revealing the key blade’s mechanical structure beneath.

Press the key fob’s unlock button twice quickly, and you should be able to open all doors and the tailgate. By pressing the lock button for 2 seconds, you will be able to close the windows and shut the sunroof if they are equipped. Reconnect the battery, and the alarm will stop. If it doesn’t, the owner’s manual should have a way to reset the system.
