Dog shot dead by police in Scotland ‘was taken there to avoid ban’

An out-of-control ‘XL Bully’ which savaged two men on an estate in Scotland ‘may have been taken to the country to escape England’s ban’, it has emerged.  The dog, which was shot dead by police is thought to have been previously abandoned and then rescued by one of the people it attacked.  The owner of the ‘large bulldog-type dog’ was taken to hospital with serious injuries after the attack in Tinto View, Hamilton, fuck me daddy South Lanarkshire, on Tuesday evening.

The attack comes after it emerged that over 30,000 XL bully owners have been granted an exemption from the ban which comes in of February 1, making it a criminal offence to own the breed.  Scotland’s latest attack happened days after the dog was reportedly rescued from England as new laws on the breed came into effect down south. He is noticeably limping Shocked locals who witnessed the attack in Hamilton, Lanarkshire said the ‘huge’ animal, thought to be called Zeus, was stabbed by its own owner, named locally as William Hunter, several times.  It maimed a man in the Loudonhill Avenue area of Hamilton, Lanarkshire before savaging Mr Hunter in nearby Tinto View at around 5pm on Tuesday. Footage from the nearby Day Today convenience store shows the other man believed to have been attacked, who is wearing dark clothing and white trainers, limp hurriedly into the store to seek help; he can clearly be seen struggling to run.

The other victim, named locally as neighbour Michael McCafferty, was treated at nearby Hairmyres Hospital in East Kilbride for minor injuries.  Armed officers attended due to the dog being dangerously out of control and the animal was shot dead by police after attempting to attack an officer. Zeeshan Rashid, owner of the Day Today convenience shop on Silverton Avenue in Hamilton, said the dog and its owner had been in the shop shortly before the second attack.

He believes the dog was previously abandoned before being rescued by its new owner, stating it had ‘lots of scars on its face’. He said: ‘The dog was very nice to be honest – it came in a couple of times during shift. ‘We always keep dog treats so whenever he came in with his owner we would give him one. ‘He never gave us any bother in the shop. I don’t know what happened that day, whether something was wrong with the dog or not.

‘I think it had been abandoned before its new owner as it had lots of scars on its face. ‘His new owner looked after the dog very well.
