: Feather reed grass grows into a robust, upright clump reaching 5 ft in peak. The dull green leaves are 2 feet long and arch barely. A: Your plant might be planted too deeply. Dig the plant in early fall and inspect the roots for any unusual damage. Modify the pH to between 5.5 to 6.5. Replant so that the crown — the half where the buds form — is one to two inches beneath the soil floor. Water deeply and apply mulch so the plant can reestablish itself.
