The Perils of Pauline (1914).

It was originally a 20-episode series, The Perils of Pauline is one of the most loved silent movies ever. Pearl White plays the role of the heroine who is always in danger. Harry Marvin (Crane Wilbur) is the son of a wealthy man. He wants to marry Pauline however she is looking for her independence. Both are horrified by Pauline’s choice. They come up with a ridiculous murder plot. Harry is an impulsive man who doesn’t want Pauline to die. He treats her like a child that isn’t paying attention. He’s as dumb as James Bond.

The Perils of Pauline was directed by Louis J. Gasnier. It was also cut in France to be released in a 28mm version. It was selected for the National Film Registry. The movie was released by Universal Studios in 1967 as an updated comedy. It was also reused by Paramount Pictures in 1947 as a Betty Hutton vehicle.

The story centers around Pauline’s uncle’s death, leaving Pauline with a million dollars. She plans to travel throughout the next year prior to when she marries. A sly “guardian” who is a part of Pauline’s heirloom, plots to kill her. He hires a henchman named Hicks to aid him. A side character reveals the deeds of Hicks.

Once once upon a Time

‘Once Upon a Time’ reimagined fairy stories. It introduced new characters, plots and also new characters. The show’s final seasons introduced less interesting characters and plots.

The episode is quite good, but I’m not sure that the novelty is worth the effort. This episode isn’t suitable for those who are only interested in the fabled Hat Trick.
